Origin
The rotor is an idea of the installation artist Markus Heinsdorff. With initiative by environmental engineer Andreas Zeiselmaier, a team of engineers and students was compiled, to develop the final deployable prototype, with the support of universities.
Team Background
As a team of various backgrounds and generations we are a very fruitful combination of members with the same idea and goal: We want to make change happen! Our initiative Mobile Hydro was founded 2013 after the great success at the Siemens Empowering People Award in Nairobi. With the vision to replace Diesel-Generator through eco-friendly alternatives and the ambition to supply electricity to off-grid areas, we started our work in 2013.
Mission
Empowering people and replacing Diesel generators. The innovative invention ‘Rotor’ is a small low-cost mobile hydro power plant which provides electricity for regions without grid connection.
